The “Prince of Peace” – The Real Significance of Easter…

The “Prince of Peace” – The Real Significance of Easter…

“Prince of Peace”, The Image of Jesus as painted by Akiane Kramarik; www.akiane.com

Ever since I saw this image of Jesus in the movie, Heaven Is For Real, I have been extremely drawn to it.  I remember my sister telling me about a documentary she watched where the producers were trying to recreate his image based on some assertions and that conversation came back to me when I saw this picture.

The Painting, “Prince of Peace” was created by Akiane Kramarik (www.akiane.com) at the age of 8, after her personal experiences and visions of Heaven and Jesus.  According to what I read on www.art-soulworks.com, the official site where the painting can be bought,

“She began praying and searching diligently for someone that looked similar to who she saw in her vision of Jesus.  One day, after hours of focused prayer, a man knocked on her door.  He had heard she was looking for a model for a portrait of Jesus and offered to sit for it.  Akiane accepted his offer and the result is her first masterpiece, the Prince of Peace”.

I have seen many images of Jesus and I know I did a double take when I first saw this image in the movie.  Whenever I look at this picture, I feel a lot of emotions arising within me for some reason I really can’t explain.  And for that singular reason, I honestly truly believe this may have been what He looked like.

Who knows… Perhaps it was Jesus who came to Akiane and actually posed for this picture.  After all, when the disciples first met Jesus after the resurrection, they did not know it was Him.  Same with Mary Magdalene.  But this is just my take on it.

As I reflect on what Easter means to me, Akiane’s words seem very apt on why there is a light and dark side to the Image.  She says:

“Love and truth are represented
on the light side of Jesus’ Face;
The other is of darkness and suffering
yet there’s light in His Eye.
This light is a reminder that
He is ALWAYS with us!” – Akiane

And I believe this is what Easter is all about.  To me, it speaks about the Peace I always feel within me whenever I think of my personal relationship with Jesus, the Sacrifice He Made on the Cross and the Hope that is constantly renewed within me when sometimes I feel down and feel lost.

In this special season, I wish for you and all of yours the true blessings of Easter.  May this period truly manifest itself with the renewal of our minds and may it bring us closer to Him and make us truly appreciate what He gave up to bring us closer to God.

And my prayer for you is this:

May the Grace of our Lord Jesus,
The Love of God
And the Sweet Fellowship of The Holy Spirit
Be With Us All
Now and Forever More

Amen.

God Bless You All.  Do have a great Easter and a fabulous long holiday!

Cheers!

Oh.  PS.

#NigeriaDecides !!! Election Day Through My Eyes… & the Results From My Polling Unit…

http://www.oak.tv/wp-content/uploads/2015/03/nigeria-decides.png

YES!  I had a lot of FUN today!  I was on an Official National Assignment and I over-delivered!!!!!  I cast my vote!!!! 😀 😀 😀

Yes it might seem a bit strange that I am this excited but honestly, I took this voting thing very personal! 😀

http://expressng.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/03/nigeria-decides.jpg

The past few weeks have been pretty intense… the battle has been tough and many people have lost friends, colleagues and even their public images due to hateful comments and speeches “on top these elections”…

I have read, in some cases, with pleasure… and in other cases, with disdain, the insults flying across social media over this election matter.  Some people have absconded from the country from fear, broadcasts flying back and forth, my goodness, I don’t think Nigerians have ever been THIS involved in  politics.

And I am PROUD of us for taking the bull by the horns!  Apart from, of course the insults and the tribalism which I never knew we had in us but thankfully I NOW know better, I doubt things have been this heated since the Abiola saga.

BUT THAT SAID…

I’m not here to give my views on politics.  I am here to share pictures with you of how my day went!  Granted I posted enough on Instagram, Twitter & Facebook but what’s a few more pictures right?! 😀

This picture is just a summary which depicts my own voting experience.  Check out more pictures which tell the full story of my day.

Up bright and early ready with my PVC:

  😀

Voters at the Polling Unit (PU) ready to get accredited…

Thankfully, the PU’s like 5 buildings away so it was a very short walk!  About 45 seconds – literally!

@ the PU:

The friendly officials… My PU was pretty peaceful…

Voters getting accredited with the card reader.

MY TURN to get accredited!!! 😀

Success!!!!!!!!  Yaye!!!!!  Some people had issues but mine was pretty seamless! 😀

And now a short break….. to be back at 1.30pm!

Voting Time!!!  I was back there at about 2.30pm I think…

Yes it was blazing hawt!  But we all queued. There were some guys going round trying to convince some people to vote for a certain party… not even sure which of the parties they represented but they did not come in my direction.  I had this STERN look on my face like “don’t you even dare!” and they did not dare!  Though I heard later some people were distributing rice and stuff… Shame…

But anywayz… back to my pictures!!!

In the blazing heat ready to vote…

Officials diligently playing their part…

People making their choices in secret…

And casting their votes in public…

It’s MY TURN!!!!!!!

Sssshhhhh…….. I’m busy ‘ere…

Casting MY vote…

ALL DONE!!!!!!!! National Assignment Over!!!!!! 😀 😀 😀

So yes it was a great day!  And I thoroughly enjoyed it!

Now please do not ask me who I voted for because my vote is my secret!  That is why it is a secret ballot!  And those who already asked me got the same answer.

BUT

I can tell you who won in my PU.  Ready??????  Drumroll please!!!!!!!!!

APC!  In all 3 categories!  Like you’re surprised right?!  This is Lagos so…

So yes!  There you have it!

I had a great day!  Hope you did as well!  And hope you voted too.

Thanks to all you voted!  I am proud of you all!  And like I said on my Blackberry, for those who did not vote, don’t worry, I made a great decision on your behalf!  You will be proud!

NOW… we watch and pray……  And we hope all else goes peacefully…

Hopefully, now that elections are over, we can all go back to “being friends”… though I wonder how that can ever happen with all the broken bridges.  Well, at least pretend to be friends and let’s go back to respecting each other.  That’s what really counts!
As for me?!  It’s back to work now!  As they say, “the hustle continues”….

FEC 8 People, still waiting for the rest of your assignments!  And watch out for a new update on our Design & Illustration Course!

Have a great weekend everyone!

Cheers!
